Identity
Château d'Eyran is a winegrowing estate located in the Bordeaux region.
History and philosophy
The earliest records of Château d'Eyran date back to 1317. The château was rebuilt around 1626. In 1796, the de Sèze family acquired the estate through Paul-Victor de Sèze, and the property has remained in the family ever since, passed down from generation to generation. At the beginning of the 20th century, the vineyard underwent a period of grubbing up. Its restoration was undertaken in the 1980s, spearheaded in particular by Stéphane and Brigitte Savigneux. More recently, in early September 2015, Charles and Fernanda Savigneux joined the estate. The estate's philosophy is rooted in sustainable viticulture.

The vineyard (terroir)
The terroir of Château d'Eyran consists of sandy gravel and gravel over clay-limestone. Vineyard management involves several specific practices: grass cover between the rows has been maintained for 25 years, and chemical weedkillers have recently been phased out completely. Soil management includes under-vine cultivation and annual subsoiling. The estate also applies regular additions of lime and mineral elements derived from crushed rock. Regular soil, leaf, and wine analyses are conducted. Yield management is ensured through manual de-leafing, cluster and berry counts per vine, and green harvesting. Harvesting is carried out entirely by hand.
Signature cuvées

Vinification is carried out with temperature control throughout fermentation and maceration. Sulphur dioxide is used as the primary additive, at doses well below authorised limits. Château d'Eyran white and Château d'Eyran rosé are also produced, following similar practices of temperature control and measured sulphur use.
