History and philosophy
The origins of Château Faugas date back to the 13th century, when the oldest part of the château was built. Over the centuries, it evolved from a fortified castle into a country residence, and eventually into a wine estate. The name Faugas is associated with Romain De Phocas. In the 17th century, the estate belonged to Jean Louis de Nogaret de La Valette, duc d’Épernon. As early as 1874, the Féret guide noted that Château Faugas produced "one of the best wines in the region". The Berckmans family has owned the estate for nearly a century.

Bordeaux : quand “les meilleurs vins du monde” s'installent à Liverpool
Une vingtaine de vignerons bordelais se sont rendus à Liverpool pour présenter leurs vins aux Anglais, dans le cadre de l'événement « Taste Liverpool, Drink Bordeaux », une initiative délocalisée inspirée de Bordeaux Fête le Vin. Cet événement, qui s'est tenu à la mairie de Liverpool transformée en salle de dégustation, visait à promouvoir les vins de Bordeaux et à démystifier leur complexité auprès du public britannique. Les vignerons, dont Pierre Person de Jalousie Beaulieu et Corentin Aubrion du Château de Piote, ont constaté un vif intérêt et une curiosité des Liverpuldiens, cherchant des conseils personnalisés sur les accords mets et vins. Hugues Hardy du Château Faugas a également participé à cet événement. L'école du vin du Conseil interprofessionnel des vins de Bordeaux (CIVB) était présente pour proposer des sessions courtes d'initiation. Bruno Baudoux, directeur commercial du Château Castéra, a souligné l'écart entre les perceptions des professionnels et celles des consommateurs, notant par exemple l'appréciation du millésime 2017 pourtant considéré comme « léger » par les professionnels. Le Royaume-Uni reste un marché important pour le vignoble bordelais, et cette opération visait à relancer l'intérêt. La maire de Liverpool a été reçue par le maire de Bordeaux, Pierre Hurmic, et une réciprocité est envisagée, avec Liverpool potentiellement invitée à Bordeaux Fête le Vin dès 2023.
