The history of Château Haut Bacalan is intertwined with regional historical figures. In 1726, the estate was in the hands of Charles Louis de Secondat, Baron de Montesquieu. In 1748, it was acquired by M. de Bacalan, who gave his name to the property. The estate recovered part of its historic vineyard in 1998, when it was acquired by the Gonet family.
The estate is committed to sustainable viticulture, as demonstrated by the Haute Valeur Environnementale (HVE) certification obtained in 2019.
