Château Roylland is a family-run winegrowing estate in Saint-Émilion producing AOC Saint-Émilion Grand Cru wines. Managed by the Chambard family, it encompasses a 5-hectare vineyard planted on sandy-clay and clay-limestone terroirs.

Identity
Château Roylland is a winegrowing estate located in Saint-Émilion. Owned by the Chambard family, its consultant oenologist is Jean-Philippe Fort.
History and philosophy
The estate has seen several owners throughout its recent history. After being owned by Oddo-Vuiton from 1989 to 2007, it was acquired by Stephan Adams in February 2007. The Chambard family took over ownership in July 2010.
Appellations
The wines of Château Roylland are produced under the Saint-Émilion Grand Cru appellation.

Château Roylland is located in Saint-Émilion (33330). The estate is open daily from 9:00 to 17:00. Cellar door tastings and wine purchases are available. The property also accommodates groups and provides lodging through a private gîte, “Le Gîte du Roy”. Languages spoken are French and English.

The vineyard (terroir)
The Château Roylland vineyard covers an area of 5 hectares, with an average vine age of 20 years. It is established on diverse terroirs, featuring plots on sandy-clay soils in the Mazerat cove within the commune of Saint-Émilion, and others on clay-limestone soils situated in Saint-Christophe-des-Bardes. The grape variety distribution is predominantly Merlot (80%), complemented by Cabernet Franc (20%). The estate harvests entirely by hand.
Flagship cuvées
The estate produces a principal cuvée, Château Roylland, a red wine. It also offers a second wine, “R de Château Roylland”.
Vinification and ageing
The wines are crafted in concrete or stainless steel vats. Ageing takes place in oak barrels, using 35% new barrels and 65% one-wine barrels and older.
