Official estate websiteThe vineyard (terroir)
Château Villemaurine's vineyard covers an area of approximately 7 to 7.8 hectares. It is situated on a limestone and clay-limestone plateau, characteristic of Saint-Émilion soils. The average age of the vines is around 35 years. The grape varieties are dominated by Merlot at 85%, complemented by Cabernet Franc (10%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (5%). Harvesting is carried out by hand. The estate is committed to an agronomic approach, having notably ceased the use of organic fertilisers. It also holds HVE (Haute Valeur Environnementale) certification.
Signature cuvées
The estate's principal wine is Château Villemaurine. The second wine is named Les Angelots de Villemaurine. Annual production is approximately 30,000 bottles. The estate carries out a rigorous selection of the musts and retains a fruit reserve aged in vats.
Vinification and ageing
The vinification process involves a strict selection of the juices. For ageing, the estate uses 500-litre vessels and has also introduced amphorae.
