The vineyard (terroir)

The Château Viramon vineyard covers an area of approximately 1 hectare. It is planted on clay-limestone soils. The average age of the vines is 40 years. The grape variety breakdown is predominantly Merlot (70%), complemented by Cabernet Franc (30%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (2%).

Flagship cuvées

Château Viramon produces a principal cuvée under the Saint-Émilion Grand Cru appellation. This wine is aged entirely in oak barrels (100%), including one-wine barrels and older. Average annual production is around 3,300 bottles (25 hectolitres).

Vinification and ageing

Harvesting at Château Viramon is carried out both by hand and mechanically. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel vats. The wines are aged entirely in oak barrels that have already been used for at least one vintage.
