History and philosophy

Château La Rose Monturon was established in 2005 in Saint-Laurent des Combes, before moving to Saint-Étienne-de-Lisse in 2007. The estate's philosophy is rooted in preserving the natural balance of the vineyard and its environment, striving to express the unique characteristics of its terroirs. The property holds the Bienvenue à la Ferme and Vignobles et découvertes certifications. Its wines were also selected by the Guide Hachette in 2014, 2015, 2018, and 2020.

Appellations

The estate produces wines under the Saint-Émilion and Saint-Émilion Grand Cru appellations, as well as under the Bordeaux appellation.

Practical information

Château La Rose Monturon is located at 1544 Route des Vins, 33330 Saint-Étienne-de-Lisse. The estate welcomes visitors for tours and tastings by appointment, lasting approximately 1 to 1.5 hours. Meals (picnics, buffets) are also available upon reservation for small groups (6 to 20 people). The estate tasting cellar and boutique is open from January to December, Monday to Sunday, from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm and from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Direct sales are available at the property. Spoken languages are English and French. Pets are welcome and visitor parking is available. Accepted payment methods include bank cards, cheques, and cash.

The vineyard (terroir)

The Château La Rose Monturon vineyard covers 2.5 hectares, having initially started with 1.5 hectares. It is planted on terroirs characteristic of the Saint-Émilion appellation. The grape varieties are primarily Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot. Harvesting is carried out by hand, accompanied by meticulous berry sorting.

Château La Rose Monturon offers red wines under the Saint-Émilion and Saint-Émilion Grand Cru appellations, alongside a cuvée under the Bordeaux appellation.

Vinification and ageing

Vinification at Château La Rose Monturon includes a slow fermentation lasting 8 to 10 days to preserve aromatic expression. Maceration lasts 20 to 25 days, guided by regular tastings to determine the optimal extraction point. Pressing is carried out using a vertical press, ensuring gentle and slow extraction. The wines are aged in French oak barrels of various sizes and ages. Bottling is handled by the estate using shared equipment, in accordance with their own exacting standards.
