Domaine aux Conseillans is located in the commune of Saint-Caprais-de-Bordeaux. Its history has been shaped by various families who have left their mark on its development.

History and philosophy

The origins of the name 'Conseillans' date back to 1580, referring to noble families of the era. In 1750, the 'Panissaut' and 'La Lande' plots were unified by Pierre Daban-Broca. The Directoire-style château was built between 1803 and 1808 by Jacques Daban-Broca, Procureur Général at the Bordeaux Court, using local Frontenac limestone.

In 1938, Jean Ribéreau-Gayon became the owner of the estate. Domaine aux Conseillans was also the setting for a major oenological breakthrough, unlocking the secrets of malolactic fermentation. Furthermore, the estate's park was recognized as a protected natural site in 1975 and officially listed in 1976.

The vineyard (terroir)

The vineyard covers an area of 19 hectares. The soils are clay-gravel, resting on a clay subsoil. The grapes are harvested by hand, with berry-by-berry selection.

Flagship cuvées

The estate offers several cuvées. Historically available wines include Château Les Conseillans and Réserve du Pré Carré. A new brand, Château LaSuite, was introduced in 2023.

Vinification and ageing

The harvest is carried out by hand with individual berry sorting, reflecting meticulous attention to fruit quality before vinification.
