Château Bouscaut is a winegrowing estate located in Cadaujac, in the Gironde. It is classified as a Cru Classé de Graves for both its red and white wines. The estate is owned by the Lurton-Cogombles family, managed by Sophie Lurton and Laurent Cogombles. The vineyard manager is Manuel da Paixao and the cellar master is Patrice Grandjean. Château Bouscaut produces red and white wines.
History and Philosophy
The estate's history dates back to the 17th century, when vine cultivation was first recorded. Originally known as Domaine Haut Truchon, the property was renamed Château Bouscaut in 1876, taking the name of its lieu-dit. In the early 20th century, in 1925, substantial modernisations were carried out, particularly in the cellars and vineyard drainage, under the stewardship of Victor Place and Count Rivaud. In 1929, Château Valoux was acquired, and a tower was added to the château in 1930.
Château Bouscaut was awarded Cru Classé de Graves status for its white and red wines in 1953. In 1962, an accidental fire destroyed the château, but it was subsequently rebuilt to the original design. Following a period of American ownership (from 1968 to 1979), it was acquired in 1979 by Lucien and Marie-Jeanne Lurton.
In 1992, Sophie Lurton, daughter of Lucien and Marie-Jeanne Lurton, inherited the estate alongside her husband. In 1999, the 9-hectare Château Lamothe-Bouscaut was integrated into the property. In 2010, a new barrel cellar dedicated to red wines was opened.
Regarding its viticultural philosophy, Château Bouscaut practices sustainable viticulture (lutte raisonnée) and has been HVE3 certified since 2018. The estate achieved organic certification (Agriculture Biologique / EURO-LEAF) in 2024.

The tasting boutique is open on Mondays from 8:30 am to 12:00 pm and from 1:30 pm to 5:00 pm (without tours). From Tuesday to Friday, it is open from 8:30 am to 12:00 pm and from 1:30 pm to 5:30 pm. On Saturdays, it opens from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm and from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm (for tours only). The estate is closed on Sundays and public holidays.
Tours and tastings are by appointment and are conducted in French and English. The estate offers various wine workshops as well as themed vineyard tours and food-and-wine pairing experiences. Château Bouscaut has received the Best of Wine Tourism award for its wine tourism services.
The property offers on-site accommodation (a holiday cottage opened in 2013) and has disabled access. Direct sales at the property and mail orders are available.
