Château Clos de Boüard is a winegrowing estate located in Montagne, in the Gironde. It is owned by Coralie de Boüard.

History and philosophy

Coralie de Boüard, born in 1980, grew up at Château Angélus. She worked at the estate for ten years, holding responsibilities in communications, marketing, and sales. In 2012, she took over the management of Château La Fleur de Boüard, an estate acquired in 1998.

In 2016, Coralie de Boüard acquired Château Tour Musset, then owned by the Castel group, and renamed it Château Clos de Boüard. The estate's philosophy focuses on thoughtful, nature-respecting development, underpinned by a bold approach. The estate has notably established itself as a French pioneer in the premium dealcoholised wine segment.

The vineyard (terroir)

The Château Clos de Boüard vineyard extends over 30 hectares, primarily located within the commune of Montagne. The soils are predominantly clay-limestone, situated on south-facing slopes. Part of the terroir is also situated in the commune of Parsac. The average age of the vines is 40 years. The estate is certified HVE (Haute Valeur Environnementale).

Key cuvées

The estate offers a diverse range of wines, including red, white, and rosé wines, as well as a line of dealcoholised wines. Traditional cuvées include Château Clos de Boüard, the main wine, alongside Dame de Boüard, the estate's second wine. Other cuvées such as Le Cœur, Le Blanc de Coralie, and Le G (scheduled for launch in 2026) complete the range.

Château Clos de Boüard has developed a range of dealcoholised wines, including Prince Oscar (red), Eden (white), Bulle 0 (sparkling rosé), and Bulle d’Éden (sparkling white). For the Prince Oscar cuvée, the grapes undergo full fermentation, the wine is aged in oak barrels, and dealcoholisation is then achieved via cold vacuum evaporation. For the Eden cuvée, dealcoholisation is likewise carried out under cold vacuum.

Vinification and ageing

Winemaking practices involve rigorous grape selection, notably using manual methods and optical sorting tables. For dealcoholised wines such as Prince Oscar, the process entails complete fermentation followed by barrel ageing before dealcoholisation by cold vacuum evaporation. The Eden cuvée undergoes cold vacuum dealcoholisation.
