According to some sources, the name Château Colbert dates back to 1880, commemorating the shipwreck of a vessel named Colbert. The neo-Gothic château was built after this period. It remains a family-owned estate.

A single-varietal Malbec cuvée is also produced. Rosé de Colbert, distinctive for its candy-pink colour, reveals a bouquet of red berry fruit and strawberry.
