Identity

Château Falfas is a winegrowing estate located in Bayon-sur-Gironde, in Gironde. It is managed by Véronique Cochran, who is also an owner alongside Coche Tran.

History and philosophy

Château Falfas boasts a long history, with traces of vine cultivation dating back to ancient times. The site is documented as early as the 14th and 15th centuries, a period when the Lords of Lansac were already exporting wines from here, notably to the court of the Edwards of England. In 1612, the Louis XIII-style château was built on one of the hillsides of the commune of Bayon. Its current name comes from Gaillard de Falfas, president à mortier of the Parliament of Guyenne in the 17th century, when the Sires de Riveaux owned the property. An 1827 guide notes that "Two of the first growths of the region, Tajac and the Chateau de Falfax are in the commune of Bayon".

Since 1989, the estate has been committed to biodynamics and is certified by BIODYVIN, representing over 32 years of experience in biodynamic viticulture.
