The vineyard (terroir)
The Château Grand-Lartigue vineyard covers 6 hectares. The soils are composed of clay-limestone and clay-loam, as well as ancient sands on the lower parts of Saint-Émilion. The vines have an average age of 40 years. The grape varieties consist of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc.
Flagship cuvées
Château Grand-Lartigue crafts a main cuvée under the Saint-Émilion Grand Cru appellation, predominantly made from Merlot. A second cuvée, Château Queyron Lartigue, is also produced under the Saint-Émilion AOP appellation. In 2012, this second cuvée's vintage was awarded a gold medal and one star in the Guide Hachette.
Vinification and ageing
Harvesting is carried out both by hand and mechanically. Ageing takes place 50% in stainless steel vats and 50% in barrels. Of these barrels, 15% are new and 35% have previously aged one wine or more. The cellar is equipped with stainless steel vats and oak casks.
