The vineyard (terroir)
The estate extends over an area of 2.44 hectares. The vineyard is spread across several parcels displaying distinct soil characteristics. The Gay parcel is characterised by a thick mantle of gravel (5 to 8 metres deep) resting on a subsoil of pure blue clay. The Groupey parcel is composed of coarse-grained gravel over blue clay, with a moderately thick layer of gravel (1.5 to 2.5 metres deep) overlaying a subsoil of pure blue clay. The Lafleur parcel, for its part, is characterised by pure blue clay. The grape varieties planted on the Gay parcel include Merlot (6,686 vines), while the Lafleur parcel is planted with Merlot (809 vines). The Groupey parcel comprises Merlot (4,875 vines) and Cabernet Franc (2,059 vines).
