The Vineyard (Terroir)
The vineyard covers a total area of 32.1 hectares, including 31.18 hectares planted with white grape varieties and 0.92 hectares with red grape varieties. The soils are gravelly and clay-gravel, featuring a clay-gravel ridge (croupe). The vineyard is situated on one of the highest points in the commune of Sauternes, overlooking the Ciron valley, and benefits from north and north-west exposures. The average age of the vines is around 40 years.
The grape varieties are dominated by Sémillon, which accounts for 90% of the plantings, complemented by Sauvignon and Muscadelle at 5% each, representing a combined 10% of the vineyard. The harvest is carried out entirely by hand, with at least five successive selective pickings (tries) through the vine rows. The estate estimates yields at roughly one to two glasses of wine per vine.

The estate offers a flagship cuvée under the Sauternes appellation. Notable bottlings include “Sauternes” and “Sauternes L'Ouest”.
Vinification and Ageing

Classement 1855 Sauternes et Barsac
Cet article présente le classement officiel des vins de Sauternes et Barsac, établi en 1855 à la demande de l'Empereur Napoléon III pour l'Exposition Universelle de Paris. La classification a été confiée au Syndicat des Courtiers de Commerce de la bourse de Bordeaux et visait à reconnaître la qualité et la notoriété de chaque cru. Le classement initial comprenait 25 châteaux, mais en raison de successions et de partages de sols, il en compte aujourd'hui 26. Le classement inclut une catégorie "Premier Cru Supérieur" représentée par le Château d'Yquem. Les "Premiers Crus" sont les Châteaux La Tour Blanche, La Faurie-Peyraguey, Clos Haut-Peyraguey, de Rayne-Vigneau, Suduiraut, Coutet, Climens, Guiraud, Rieussec, Rabaud-Promis et Sigalas-Rabaud.
