Château Lassalle

Identity

Château Lassalle is a winegrowing estate owned by the Labbé-Lalanne family. Fabien Lalanne is the owner and winemaker, supported by his wife, Perrine Lalanne. The estate is located in the commune of La Brède, in the Gironde.

History and philosophy

The Labbé-Lalanne family has been established at Château Lassalle for eight generations. Fabien Lalanne took over the management of the estate in 2005. His wife, Perrine Lalanne, joined him in 2009 to lead business development. Château Lassalle is committed to an environmental approach, having achieved Level 3 HVE (Haute Valeur Environnementale) certification in 2017. The estate favours environmentally friendly practices, including grass cover between rows, soil tilling, the use of more natural products and investment in effluent treatment facilities.

Appellations

Château Lassalle produces wines under the Graves, Graves rouge and Graves blanc appellations.

The estate offers guided tours strictly by appointment, including at weekends (excluding public holidays). The tour lasts approximately 40 minutes and includes a tasting for €8. Tours are available in French and English. The estate is wheelchair accessible, and pets are welcome. Groups are welcome, from a minimum of 5 to a maximum of 30 people. Accepted payment methods include American Express, payment cards and cash.

Château Lassalle also offers a gîte in the heart of the vineyards, located around 20 minutes from Bordeaux and 45 minutes from the Bassin d'Arcachon.

The vineyard (terroir)

The Château Lassalle vineyard covers a total area of 16 hectares. The soils and subsoils consist of gravel and clay-limestone. Planting density is 5,500 vines per hectare.

For the red wines, the vineyard spans 7 hectares with an average vine age of 25 years. The grape varieties planted are 55% Merlot and 45% Cabernet Sauvignon.

For the white wines, the vineyard extends across 9 hectares with an average vine age of 30 years. The grape varieties planted are 65% Sémillon, 25% Sauvignon and 10% Muscadelle.

Flagship cuvées

The estate offers a range of red, white and rosé wines.

Among the red wines, Château Lassalle Rouge is the main cuvée. Cuvée Quintessence is also produced as a prestige red wine. L'Esprit Rouge de Lassalle rounds off the range.

Among the white wines, Château Lassalle Blanc is the flagship cuvée. L'Esprit Blanc de Lassalle is another key release. The estate also produces Les Bulles blanches, a sparkling white wine.

For rosé wines, the estate crafts Le rosé de Lassalle, a still wine, and Les Bulles Roses de Lassalle, a sparkling rosé wine.

Vinification and ageing

Harvesting for the red wines is carried out both mechanically and by hand. Maceration lasts around 25 days, followed by 12 months of ageing.

White wine grapes are harvested by hand. Ageing for these wines lasts approximately 8 months.
