Château Morin is a winegrowing estate located in the commune of Saint-Estèphe, in the Gironde. It is integrated into the vineyard of Château de Pez.

History and philosophy

The origins of Château Morin date back to the early 18th century, a period marked by the expansion of vineyard plantings between 1709 and 1730. The manor house was built in 1738. Jean-Baptiste François de Morin, Baron du Sendat, is recorded as the owner during the 18th century.

In May 1862, the estate was acquired by Dr Constant Alibert. In 1932, Château Morin joined the Cru Bourgeois classification, a status reaffirmed in 1966 and again in 1978 when it was ranked as Cru Grand Bourgeois.

In July 2005, the estate was purchased by Champagnes Roederer from Maxime and Marguerite Sidaine, children of Marguerite Sidaine. In September 2015, the château and cellars were demolished in order to plant two additional hectares of vines.

The wines of Château Morin are produced under the AOP Saint-Estèphe appellation. The estate was classified as Cru Bourgeois in 1932 and 2003, and as Cru Grand Bourgeois in 1966 and 1978.
