The vineyard (terroir)

The Château Peyroutas vineyard covers an area of 2.8 hectares on clay-limestone and sandy-clay soils. The grape variety plantings are predominantly Merlot (95%), complemented by 5% Cabernet Franc. The average age of the vines is 35 years. Harvesting is carried out by hand.

Flagship cuvées

The estate's main cuvée is Graves de Peyroutas Cuvée de Ch. Quercy. This is a still red wine with an annual production of around 18,000 bottles.

Vinification and ageing

Vinification and ageing of Château Peyroutas wines take place in a variety of vessels, including barrels, concrete vats, and stainless steel tanks. Ageing is divided between oak barrels (60%) and concrete vats (40%), with micro-oxygenation on fine lees. Around 50% of the barrel ageing is conducted in new oak.
