Identity
Château Vieux Longa is a winegrowing estate located in Saint-Sulpice de Faleyrens, approximately 3 km south-west of Saint-Émilion. It is owned and run by Isabelle and Eric Veyssière. Their daughters, Céline and Elodie Veyssière, also contribute to the family estate's activities.
History and philosophy
The history of Château Vieux Longa is steeped in a long family tradition. The Renjard family has farmed this property since the early 1800s. In 1895, Eugène Renjard contributed to expanding the estate.
The estate has been passed down across the generations. Jean Renjard handed the property down to his daughter Jeanne and his son-in-law Claude Bion. In 1998, Isabelle, the daughter of Jeanne and Claude Bion, took over the family estate alongside her husband Eric Veyssière. More recently, in 2015, their daughter Elodie Veyssière joined the estate on a permanent basis.
Vineyard management follows a sustainable viticulture approach.
The appellations
The estate's plots are split between two appellations. Château Vieux Longa produces wines in the Saint-Émilion AOC across 4 hectares, and in the Bordeaux AOC across 1 hectare.

The vineyard (terroir)
The vineyard of Château Vieux Longa covers a total surface area of 5 hectares. The terroir is characterised by gravelly-sandy soils. The average age of the vines is around 40 years. Single Guyot pruning is practiced.
The grape varieties planted comprise 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc. Grass cover is maintained between the vine rows and single-side leaf thinning is carried out.
Flagship cuvées
The estate offers several cuvées, including Château Vieux Longa. Another cuvée, named Barrail du Patient, is also produced in red and rosé.
Vinification and ageing
The grapes undergo rigorous sorting, first in the vineyard and then in the vat room. Maceration and fermentation take place in stainless steel vats. The wines are aged in stainless steel vats and oak barrels, with one quarter of new barrels used.
