Covering 0.5 hectares (50 ares), the Clos Haut Mirande vineyard is planted on clay-limestone soils. The vines have an average age of 30 to 40 years. The grape varieties comprise 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc.
Flagship Cuvées
Clos Haut Mirande produces a Montagne-Saint-Émilion appellation wine. Aged in stainless steel vats, its annual production is around 3,000 bottles per vintage.
Vignobles Bareige also produce a wine named Château Vachon. This wine is crafted from a blend of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc, sourced from vines aged 25 to 40 years. Château Vachon is aged for 14 to 16 months in oak barrels (one to two wines old) following 5 months in stainless steel vats. Annual production of Château Vachon is approximately 15,000 bottles per vintage.
Vinification and Ageing
Ageing for Clos Haut Mirande takes place in stainless steel vats.
For Château Vachon, ageing is carried out in two stages: five months in stainless steel vats, followed by 14 to 16 months in one- and two-wine oak barrels.
