The Domaine de Grillet vineyard spans approximately 16 hectares. The soils consist of clay, silt and sand, more specifically described as sandy-loam clays. A 40-are parcel is dedicated to an oak-aged cuvée. The vineyard is established in the Bourgeais area, with additional plots in the Blayais, including a 60-are parcel planted with Merlot.
Flagship Cuvées
Domaine de Grillet offers several cuvées under the Château Larrat name.
The red wines in the Côtes-de-Bourg appellation are crafted from three classic red grape varieties, dominated by Merlot. Ageing may include six months in tank followed by one year in oak barrels.
The red wines in the Blaye-Côtes-de-Bordeaux appellation blend three Bordeaux grape varieties (80% Merlot, complemented by the Cabernets), and may undergo twelve months of barrel ageing followed by six months in tank. A Prestige cuvée is aged for eighteen months in oak casks.
The estate also produces white wines in the Côtes-de-Bourg appellation, primarily based on pure Sauvignon.
