The Terroir

The Sainte-Foy Côtes de Bordeaux appellation is located at the easternmost edge of the Bordeaux wine region, within the geographical area of Entre-Deux-Mers. Its vineyards are planted on hillsides and plateaus. The soils consist predominantly of clay-limestone and silt, contributing to the diverse expressions of the wines produced. This geographical position provides the vines with favourable sunshine and good temperature regulation.

The Wines

The appellation primarily produces red wines, crafted from Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc. These wines are characterised by a tannic structure and red fruit aromas, with good ageing potential. Dry white wines are also produced, blending Sémillon, Sauvignon Blanc, and Muscadelle, offering freshness and a subtle aromatic palette. Sweet wines may also be made under specific conditions.

Food and Wine Pairings

Red wines from Sainte-Foy Côtes de Bordeaux pair wonderfully with meat dishes, such as grilled meats or roast poultry. Their structure also makes them an ideal match for mature cheeses. The appellation's dry white wines complement seafood, fresh starters, or goat's cheeses. Sweet wines can be served with desserts or foie gras.
