Château Cantenac Brown is among the properties recognised as early as the 1855 Classification of Grands Crus Classés, attesting to its deep-rooted heritage in the Bordeaux vineyard. The estate is committed to sustainable viticulture, as demonstrated by its environmental certifications. In particular, it holds Level 3 Haute Valeur Environnementale (HVE) certification and an Environmental Management System (EMS) compliant with the ISO 14001 standard, supported by the CIVB. It also holds the Vignobles et Découvertes label.

The Vineyard (Terroir)

The Château Cantenac Brown vineyard extends over an area of 63 hectares. The terroir is characterised by Garonne gravels and clay-limestone soils. The average age of the vines is 30 years, and the average planting density reaches 10,000 vines per hectare. Average yields are approximately 45 hectolitres per hectare. The grape varieties are dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon (65%), complemented by Merlot (30%) and Cabernet Franc (5%).

Vinification and Ageing

Vinification at Château Cantenac Brown is traditional, with a plot-by-plot approach that allows the individual character of each terroir to express itself fully. Stainless steel vats are used for fermentation. Ageing takes place in oak barrels for a period of 16 months, with 60% new oak.
