The Vineyard (Terroir)
The Château Haut-Rigal vineyard spans 25 hectares, complemented by 15 hectares of woodland and meadows. Its parcels are split between both banks of the Garonne, taking full advantage of the diversity of the terroirs. On the right bank, the soils are clay-gravel, whilst the left bank features silty soils strewn with pebbles and small stones. This variety of soils enhances the distinct expression of the different grape varieties grown.
The red grape varieties include Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc. For the white grape varieties, the estate cultivates Muscadelle and Sémillon. A future grape variety, Marselan, is also noted.
Key Cuvées
The estate produces a range of cuvées. Château Haut-Rigal crafts a Graves Rouge, a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. For white wine, the estate offers a Bordeaux Blanc Moelleux made from Muscadelle and Sémillon. Two Bordeaux Rouge cuvées are also available: a Cuvée Tradition, blended from Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, and a single-varietal 100% Cabernet Sauvignon cuvée.
