Château Jingle Yard

Identity

Château Jingle Yard is a winegrowing estate located in the commune of Saint-Magne-de-Castillon, in the Gironde. It is recognized as an artisan winegrower and producer.

History and philosophy

The winemaking history of the Castillon area dates back to the 2nd century AD with the Romans. By the 4th century AD, Castillon’s sweet, authentic wines were already prized in Rome. By the 13th century, Castillon wines enjoyed a strong reputation and were exported to the UK and the Netherlands throughout the Middle Ages. Château Jingle Yard traces its own roots back to the 19th century. Wines from Castillon were historically referred to as "Près St Emilionnais".

The AOC Côtes de Castillon appellation was established in 1935, the same year as the Fédération des vins de Côtes de Castillon. In 2008, it joined the other Côtes de Bordeaux under the shared "Côtes de Bordeaux" umbrella appellation.

Appellations

Château Jingle Yard crafts wines under the Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux and Bordeaux appellations. The Côtes de Castillon appellation was officially reaffirmed in 2008 under the unified "Côtes de Bordeaux" banner alongside the hills of Blaye, Cadillac, and Francs.

The vineyard (terroir)

The vineyards of Château Jingle Yard are distinguished by their diverse soils. These range from gravels near the Dordogne river to clay-limestone parcels with high clay and limestone content, as well as limestone soils on the plateau. These various soil types span an elevation gradient of over 100 metres, with the vines enjoying prime south-facing exposure.

Signature cuvées

Among the estate's portfolio, a dry white wine is crafted from Colombard and Sauvignon blanc. This cuvée is distinguished by its crisp, bone-dry style with zero dosage.
