Identity

Château La Fleur de Boüard is a winegrowing estate located in the village of Néac, close to the Saint-Émilion and Pomerol appellations. Long owned by Hubert de Boüard and his family, it is now predominantly owned by the Liquard family (a 75% stake), with Hubert de Boüard retaining 25% of the capital alongside technical involvement. Emmanuel Teillet is the current managing director of the estate.

History and Philosophy

Château La Fleur de Boüard was acquired in 1998 by Hubert de Boüard. The estate is committed to sustainable viticulture, as evidenced by its HVE (Haute Valeur Environnementale) certification and the Sustainable label. The estate's philosophy focuses on producing elegant, complex red and white wines.

Château La Fleur de Boüard produces its wines under the Lalande-de-Pomerol appellation.

Practical Information

Château La Fleur de Boüard is located at 12, route de Bertineau, 33500 Néac. The estate is open for tours and tastings by prior reservation. Behind-the-scenes visits are available, including a discovery of the vat room and the century-old barrel cellars, enhanced by a sound and light show. The estate also organises masterclasses on great vintages and wine blending workshops. Accommodation is available on-site, including La Maison de la Fleur, Le Pavillon, Le Pressoir Saint-Georges, and Le Cube, alongside a table d'hôtes open from April to October. Private events (weddings, christenings, birthdays) and corporate gatherings (seminars, study days) can be hosted. The estate accepts debit/credit cards, bank cheques, and cash. The Vineyard (Terroir)

The Château La Fleur de Boüard vineyard spans a total area of 45 hectares, located in the commune of Néac. The soils are described as gravelly-clay, featuring large gravel over sand and clay. The average age of the vines is around 25 years. The grape varieties for the red wines are predominantly Merlot (80% to 82%), complemented by Cabernet Franc (12%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (3% to 4%). For the white wines, the planting consists of Chardonnay (80%) and Sauvignon Blanc (20%). The harvest is carried out entirely by hand.

Flagship Cuvées

The estate produces several cuvées. The flagship wine is "La Fleur de Boüard", accompanied by the second wine "La Fleur de Boüard Le Lion". The estate also crafts "La Fleur de Boüard Le Plus", made from the property's oldest vines, and the single-varietal Chardonnay "Le Blanc de la Fleur de Boüard". The estate's red wines are acclaimed for their elegance and complexity.

Vinification and Ageing

Vinification takes place in a modern vat room, known as the Emile Peynaud cathedral vat room, which features small, suspended, inverted truncated-cone vats. Gravity-flow winemaking methods are used throughout. The wines are aged in oak barrels for up to 20 months.
