History and philosophy
The history of Château la Freynelle dates back to 1789, when Jean Barthe, the family ancestor, founded the estate. Véronique Barthe represents the seventh generation at the helm of this family property. She took over in 1991 and carries on the winemaking tradition. The estate is dedicated to biodynamic viticulture.

The vineyard (terroir)
The Château la Freynelle vineyard spans 80 hectares, situated on clay-limestone ridges. The average vine age is 25 years. The parcels are spread across the communes of Daignac, Targon, Faleyras, and Espiet. Approximately 60% of the vineyard is planted with red grape varieties and around 25% with white varieties. The grape varieties grown include Sauvignon blanc, Sémillon, Muscadelle, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon.
Flagship cuvées
The estate offers several cuvées across different wine styles. Among them is Château La Freynelle Blanc, typically crafted from Sauvignon, Sémillon, and Muscadelle, offering vibrant fresh fruit aromas. Château La Freynelle Rouge is a blend of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Château La Freynelle Rosé and Château La Freynelle Clairet are primarily produced from Cabernet Sauvignon. The Clairet, heir to historic "French Claret", continues the 18th-century tradition of lighter red wines.
Vinification and ageing
Vinification and ageing of Château la Freynelle wines are carried out in vats. For certain red cuvées, ageing can last between 12 and 16 months.

Vins de Bordeaux : les entre-deux-mers établissent un « Top Vin » inédit
L'appellation Entre-deux-Mers a organisé son concours annuel « Top Vin » le lundi 30 mars, visant à sélectionner les cuvées qui la représenteront lors des actions de promotion en 2026. Une quinzaine de sommeliers de l'Association des sommeliers de Bordeaux Aquitaine ont dégusté une cinquantaine de vins pour en retenir 20. Pour la première fois, des vins rouges de l'Entre-deux-Mers ont été inclus dans ce classement, marquant une évolution pour l'appellation. Parmi les vins blancs lauréats du millésime 2025 figurent le château Chantelouve, le château Les Arromans, le château La Grande Métairie, le château Nardique La Gravière, le château Landereau, Ajisaï Première Préssée, le château Thieuley, le château La Freynelle, le château Grand Jean, le château de Beauregard Ducourt, le château Castenet et le château Haut-Rian. Les cuvées élevées en blanc, millésimes 2024 et 2025, incluent Éphémère par Jean-Christophe Icard (2025), Le Grand Blanc du château Roquefort (2024) et le château Bellevue (2024). Les vins rouges lauréats des millésimes 2023 et 2024 sont le château Vermont la Grande Cuvée (2024), le château Landereau Prestige (2023), le château Thieuley (2023), Noste Terra (2023) et le Château Lauduc Grande Cuvée (2023).
