Château La Naudine is a winegrowing estate located in the commune of Castres-Gironde.
History and Philosophy
The estate was acquired in 1996. Historically, the site is home to a 17th-century chartreuse. Following a period of activity under the name Château Périn de Naudine, the vineyard was split in 2008.
Olivier Colas took over the vineyard in 2022. His professional background includes twenty-five years in banking, fifteen years managing Château Périn de Naudine, and twelve years handling vineyard transactions within a specialist real estate agency in Bordeaux.
The estate's philosophy centres on soil revitalisation and reviving natural life through the application of biodynamic preparations and careful tillage. This includes cover cropping and mechanical under-vine weeding. Treatments use products approved in organic farming—unless extreme weather events threaten the vine—with an approach focused on minimal intervention. The goal is to pursue quality and showcase the natural strengths of the terroir.

The Vineyard (Terroir)

The grape varieties planted comprise Merlot over 0.67 hectares, Cabernet Sauvignon over 0.43 hectares, and Sauvignon Blanc over 0.21 hectares.
Viticultural practices favour minimal intervention, allowing nature to drive natural soil regeneration. Work includes aerating and decompacting the immediate subsoil, keeping tractor passes to a strict minimum, and using plant-protection products free from CMR substances. Trimming (rognage) is limited to once or twice a year.
Signature Cuvées
The first vintage produced by the estate was 2022. The estate aims to craft fresh, fruit-forward wines designed to be enjoyed young, in the spirit of approachable drinking pleasure.
Château La Naudine Rouge
The red cuvée is available in 75cl bottles, as well as in magnums (150cl) for part of the production, as magnums are considered ideal for optimal conservation.
Annual production for this cuvée ranges between 3,000 and 4,000 bottles.
Château La Naudine Blanc
The white cuvée is bottled in 75cl format.
Annual production ranges between 400 and 600 bottles.
Vinification and Ageing
The cellar is equipped with various vessels: four concrete vats of around 60 hectolitres each, two of which have been restored with raw concrete interiors and the other two epoxy-lined. These concrete vats provide thermal inertia that renders temperature control unnecessary during vinification. The cellar also features a 15-hectolitre egg-shaped vat, two 10-hectolitre stainless steel vats for parcel-by-parcel vinification, and several stainless steel storage tanks (garde-vins) of 1, 4, 5, and 10 hectolitres. A 60-hectolitre stainless steel storage tank is also on site.
Vinification takes place without a press. The wines are aged without wood (neither oak barrels nor staves) to preserve fruitiness and freshness. However, a spacious barrel cellar remains available for future use depending on the organoleptic profile of the wines.
