Identity

Château La Tour de Bessan is a winegrowing estate located in the commune of Margaux-Cantenac. It is managed by Marie-Laure Lurton.

History and philosophy

The origins of the estate date back to the 13th century, with the construction of the tower in 1250 by Jehan Colomb, Lord of Soussans. This tower was built to protect the lord and his family. The Colomb family held the property until 1390, before the Seigneurs de Mons took ownership in 1488.

In 1972, Lucien Lurton acquired the estate. Marie-Laure Lurton took over the management of Château La Tour de Bessan in 1992. In 1999, extensive renovation work was carried out on the building, including the installation of a vat room, a cellar, and a tasting room, overseen by architect Vincent Defos du Rau.

The estate has been certified Terra Vitis since 2003 and holds Haute Valeur Environnementale (HVE 3) certification.
