Identity
Château La Tour de Mons is a winegrowing estate located in the commune of Soussans, in the Gironde department. The Perrodo family has been its owner since acquiring the property in 2019. The estate's technical team is led by oenologist Marjolaine Maurice de Coninck, with consulting support from fellow oenologist Claude Gros.
History and Philosophy
The estate's history dates back at least to the 13th century, with the construction of the fortified house of La Tour de Mons. The seigneury of Soussans itself is documented as early as 1098. In the 17th century, the estate, then known as Tour de Marsac, took the name of its owner at the time, Pierre de Mons, thus becoming Château La Tour de Mons. The de Mons family retained the property until the end of the 19th century. In the early 1990s, CA Grands Crus, a subsidiary of the Crédit Agricole group, began acquiring shares in the estate, becoming the sole owner in 2015. In 2019, a sale agreement was signed, and the estate was acquired by the Perrodo family in the first quarter of 2020. Recent renovations include the construction of a new vinification cellar and an air-conditioned storage cellar, along with an extensive vineyard drainage programme. The estate is HVE-certified and practises sustainable viticulture (lutte raisonnée).
