Identity

Château Le Camplat is a winegrowing estate located in Saint-Mariens in the Gironde. It is currently run by Marion Reculet, who took over the management of the property in 2014. Jean-Louis Reculet is the estate's founder.

History and philosophy

Château Le Camplat was acquired by the Reculet family in 1979. Jean-Louis Reculet is the founder of the property. The estate welcomed his son in 1997 and his daughter, Marion Reculet, in 2007. Marion subsequently took over the helm of the estate in 2014. Her focus is on expanding wine tourism. The estate is actively engaged in a conversion to organic farming.

Appellations

Château Le Camplat produces wines under the Bordeaux and Blaye Côtes de Bordeaux appellations.

Winemaking and ageing

The vinification of certain white wines, such as the Cuvée Prestige, can include barrel fermentation. Ageing for this white cuvée takes place over a period of six months in oak barrels. For other white cuvées, ageing can last three months in oak. Red wines such as the Joli Verdot cuvée are aged in oak barrels for 12 months.

Château Le Camplat is located at 2, le Camplat, 33620 Saint-Mariens. Tastings and cellar-door sales are available directly at the property. The tasting cellar is open Monday to Friday from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm and from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Visits are available by appointment by calling +33 (0)6 23 40 36 96. The vineyard (terroir)

The vineyard of Château Le Camplat covers an area of 17 hectares. The soils are clay-limestone. The grape varieties planted include Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Varieties such as Malbec and Petit Verdot were introduced more recently. Some young vines are seven years old.

Signature cuvées

The estate offers a diverse range of red, white, and rosé cuvées. Among the white wines is Château Le Camplat Blanc, occasionally produced as a 100% Sauvignon. A white cuvée Prestige is also crafted, predominantly from Sauvignon, and can be aged for six months in oak barrels. The cuvée Fût de chêne, also a still dry white wine made from 100% Sauvignon, benefits from three months of barrel ageing. For the red wines, Château Le Camplat Rouge cuvée tradition is a blend of Merlot and Cabernet Franc. A cuvée named Joli Verdot, a still red wine, is made from Petit Verdot and aged in oak barrels for 12 months.
