What is the history of Château Marceline?

The history of the Château Marceline vineyard began in the 1960s with Victor Dubuc, Céline’s grandfather. He cultivated the vines and vinified at the cooperative cellar. His son Henri Dubuc then took the helm. In 2009, Marc and Céline founded Château Marceline, taking over from Henri Dubuc. The estate’s name is inspired by the first names of its owners, Marc and Céline Druesne. The estate is classified as a Cru Artisan.

What are the grape varieties and terroir of Château Marceline?

The Château Marceline vineyard spans an area of 1.37 hectares. The grape varieties planted consist of 60% Cabernet and 40% Merlot, typical of the Bordeaux region and adding complexity to the wines. The terroir is characterised by sandy-gravel soils, which are ideally suited to these varieties. The vines have an average age of 42 years, bringing depth and concentration to the wines. Vineyard management is traditional.

How are the wines vinified and aged?

Vinification at Château Marceline takes place in concrete vats. This type of vat is valued for its ability to maintain stable temperatures, fostering a steady fermentation and optimal extraction of aromas and tannins. Following vinification, the wines are aged for 12 months. This ageing period allows the wines to refine, develop complexity, and build a harmonious structure prior to bottling.
