The vineyard (terroir)
The Château Petit Boyer vineyard spans a total area of 32.78 hectares, comprising 31 hectares planted with red grape varieties and 1.78 hectares with white grape varieties. The average age of the vines is around 35 years. For the red wines, the grape varieties planted are Merlot (55%), Malbec (21%), Cabernet-Sauvignon (15%), and Cabernet Franc (9%). Another source indicates 50% Merlot, 48% Cabernet-Sauvignon, and 2% Petit Verdot for the reds. For the white wines, the varieties grown are Sauvignon blanc (88%) and Muscadelle (12%). Harvesting is carried out both by hand and mechanically. The estate manages the vineyard organically and does not buy in grapes.
Flagship cuvées
Among the wines produced, the cuvée “Blanc” comes from a blend of Sauvignon and Muscadelle. Regarding the reds, the cuvée “Paloma” is characterised by its substance and pronounced oak influence, while the cuvée “La Passion” is a fruit-forward wine. A “Vieilles Vignes” cuvée is also crafted.
