Identity

Château Tertre de Pezelin is a winegrowing estate located in the commune of Monprimblanc, in Gironde. It is owned by the Daumec family, with Brigitte and Dominique Daumec at the helm.

History and philosophy

The history of Château Tertre de Pezelin is intimately tied to the Daumec family, who settled on these lands in 1870. Handed down from generation to generation, the estate is now in the hands of the sixth generation of winegrowers. Vine cultivation is carried out in a traditional manner.

Appellations

Château Tertre de Pezelin produces wines under several appellations:

• Bordeaux Rosé (for the rosés from Monprimblanc)
• Bordeaux Blanc Sec (for the dry whites from Monprimblanc)
• Côtes de Bordeaux Rouge (for the reds from Monprimblanc)
• Loupiac (for the sweet wines)

Practical information

Château Tertre de Pezelin offers wine tastings and vineyard tours. Alongside its viticultural activities, the estate also provides holiday accommodation. Gîtes situated in a converted 17th-century dovecote and former stables are scheduled to open from 1 March 2026. A lodge called “Le Retour aux Sources”, featuring a private swimming pool, a small animal park, and various leisure activities, is set to reopen from 1 April 2026.

The vineyard (terroir)

The Château Tertre de Pezelin vineyard extends over 22 hectares. It is planted on clay-limestone slopes, enjoying an elevated aspect overlooking the Garonne on its right bank, in the Entre-deux-Mers region.

For the Loupiac appellation, the parcels cover 3 hectares on clay-limestone soils with a south to south-westerly exposure. The average age of the vines dedicated to Loupiac is 35 years. The grape variety for Loupiac is 100% Sémillon.

Harvesting for the red, rosé, and dry white wines is carried out mechanically, whereas the grapes for the sweet wines are hand-harvested through successive selective pickings (tries).

Flagship cuvées

The estate offers a diverse range of wines, including reds, rosés, dry whites, and sweet wines. The Bordeaux Blanc Sec is made predominantly from Sauvignon, complemented by a proportion of Sémillon. The sweet Loupiac cuvée is produced exclusively from Sémillon. This wine generally reveals the aromatic richness and sweetness characteristic of sweet wines from the appellation.

Vinification and ageing

Vinification at Château Tertre de Pezelin is carried out in stainless steel and concrete vats using a pneumatic press. For the Loupiac wines, vinification takes place in vats, with selected lots aged in oak barrels. Ageing is conducted in concrete vats or oak barrels. The Loupiac is aged for two years before being entirely estate-bottled at the château.
