History and philosophy

The estate's buildings date from the late 19th century. In 1881, the property was run by P. Jadouin aîné.

The vineyard (terroir)

The vineyard spans an area of 14 hectares. The soils consist of strips of gravel resting on blue clay, enriched by alluvial deposits. The vines are trained using the double Guyot system, with a planting density of 6,000 vines per hectare. The average age of the vines is 35 years. The estate has been pesticide-free for several years. The grape varieties planted are Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot.

Flagship cuvées

Domaine de l'île Margaux produces a red wine. It is aged for 12 to 16 months.

Vinification and ageing

The wine is aged in concrete vats and one-wine oak barrels, along with a proportion of new oak barrels. The vat room uses concrete tanks for vinification.
