Château Malescot Saint-Exupéry, a 3e Cru Classé in Margaux, is a family-owned estate managed by the Zuger family. It cultivates 28 hectares of vines on gravel soils and produces red wines under the Margaux appellation, as well as a second wine.
Identity
Château Malescot Saint-Exupéry is a winegrowing estate located in Margaux. It was classified as a 3e Cru Classé in the 1855 classification.
The estate is managed by the Zuger family, with Jean-Luc Zuger and Catherine Zuger. Léa Zuger, daughter of Jean-Luc Zuger, also assists with the management of the property. Gilles Pouget serves as technical director.
History and philosophy
The history of the estate dates back to the 16th century. In 1697, Simon Malescot acquired the property, giving it part of its current name.
In 1827, Count Jean-Baptiste de Saint-Exupéry acquired the estate and appended his name to that of the château. He owned it until 1853. Fourcade and Boissac took over the estate in 1870, later selling it in 1901.
In June 1955, the Zuger family, represented by Paul and Roger Zuger, purchased Château Malescot Saint-Exupéry. Jean-Luc Zuger took the helm of the estate in 1994.
The château is built in a Napoleon III architectural style. Its motto is “Semper Ad Altum”, meaning “always higher”.

The wines of Château Malescot Saint-Exupéry are produced under the Margaux appellation, located in the Médoc within the Bordeaux region.
Winemaking and ageing
Ageing takes place in oak barrels, generally over a period of 12 to 14 months.

Château Malescot Saint-Exupéry
The main cuvée, Château Malescot Saint-Exupéry, is a red wine crafted to express the authentic character of the Margaux terroir. Annual production is approximately 120,000 bottles. For the 2020 vintage, 76,600 bottles were produced.
