The Château Charron vineyard covers a planted area of 26 hectares, comprising 20 hectares dedicated to red grape varieties and 6 hectares to white varieties. The average age of the vines is around 40 years. The plots enjoy a south-south-easterly exposure on the Right Bank of the Gironde estuary. The soils are well-drained clay-limestone with a high proportion of limestone. The red grape varieties are predominantly Merlot (80%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (20%). For the white varieties, Sémillon accounts for 80% of plantings, complemented by Sauvignon (20%). The harvest is carried out by hand.
Flagship cuvées
Among the estate's wines, the red cuvée "Les Gruppes" is crafted from old vines and is dominated by Merlot. Another cuvée, "Secret de Charron", is made exclusively from Merlot. In white, the "Acacia" cuvée is primarily produced from Sémillon, delivering wines of notable complexity.
Vinification and ageing
The "Secret de Charron" cuvée undergoes extended barrel ageing for twenty-four months. For the "Les Gruppes Vieilles Vignes" cuvée, ageing takes place in 400-litre oak casks for twelve months.
