Identity

Château de Lavison is located in the commune of Loubens, in the Gironde. It is owned by the Dumur family, represented by Patrick, Martine, Alexandra and Ielena.

History and philosophy

The history of Château de Lavison dates back to the year 977 with the foundation of a feudal tower. In 1274, the Lavison estate became a royal domain after its acquisition by Édouard Ier d’Angleterre. Following the Hundred Years' War, the Lavaissière family took ownership of the property.

In 1925, Émile Dumur, a merchant from La Réole, acquired Château de Lavison. The vineyard, which had suffered decline, was replanted and restored in the early 1950s by his grandson, Jack-Édouard. The estate is committed to organic farming (certified Agriculture Biologique) for its wines, as well as for its craft beers, launched in 2017 by Alexandra.

Red Wines

L'Origine Bordeaux Rouge: This blend of 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon is bottled early to preserve fresh fruit flavours and supple tannins. Merlot imparts fleshy red fruit notes and silky tannins, while Cabernet Sauvignon provides structure and ageing potential.
L'Esprit Bordeaux Rouge: Composed of 60% Merlot and 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, this wine is aged in oak barrels. It is distinguished by its balance, controlled tannins, and supple texture.
977: A cuvée paying homage to the château's origins in 977, crafted from 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Merlot. Aged in new oak barrels, this wine for cellaring combines the power of Cabernet Sauvignon, with its aromas of blackcurrant and cedar, with the roundness of Merlot.
