The history of Château de Villegeorge is marked by its acquisition in 1973 by Lucien Lurton. In 1992, Marie-Laure Lurton, a trained oenologist, took over the management of the estate, integrating the property into Vignobles Marie-Laure Lurton. The estate was ranked as a Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel in 1932. However, it chose to withdraw from the Cru Bourgeois classification starting from the 2013 vintage.
