Identity

Château Le Noble is situated in Saint Germain du Puch, in the Gironde. It is owned by Thomas Bonnefon, his wife Maria Mercedes, and their three children. The technical team includes a consultant oenologist.

History and philosophy

The estate began producing wine in the early 19th century. In 2023, majority ownership was acquired by the Frère-Gallienne family. Thomas Bonnefon, a graduate of the viticultural and oenological agricultural school of Bordeaux-Blanquefort, gained experience at Château Rauzan-Ségla, alongside other Bordeaux estates. Château Le Noble is committed to environmentally friendly viticultural practices, obtaining organic certification for its vineyard in 2013. The estate places strong emphasis on farming methods that enhance grape quality, notably through shallow ploughing and the natural enrichment of the soils.

Château Le Noble produces wines under the Bordeaux and Bordeaux Supérieur appellations.

The vineyard (terroir)

The vineyard of Château Le Noble extends over 11 hectares, with a total planted area of 15.6 hectares, comprising 8.6 hectares of red grape varieties and 7 hectares of white grape varieties. The vines, with an average age of 35 years, face due south and are planted on clay-limestone soils complemented by gravel knolls on the Left Bank of the Dordogne. The estate practices light tilling and enriches the soils naturally by incorporating green manure. Systemic treatment products are banned, and pruning is geared toward quality. The red grape varieties grown are Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon. The whites comprise Sémillon, Sauvignon, and Muscadelle. The vineyard has been certified organic since 2013.

Flagship cuvées

The estate offers several cuvées. Château Le Noble Rouge is crafted from Merlot (80%), Cabernet Franc (10%), and Cabernet Sauvignon (10%). Cuvée Héritage Rouge follows a similar blend with 70% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc, and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. For white wines, Cuvée Héritage Blanc is composed of Sauvignon (45%), Sémillon (45%), and Muscadelle (10%). A sweet Cuvée Héritage Moelleux features the exact same blend. Château Le Noble also produces a Cuvée Héritage Rosé made exclusively from 100% Cabernet Franc. A distinctive cuvée, Radicale Rouge, is a 100% Merlot wine, certified organic, vegan, and without added sulphites. The estate also offers red Bag-in-Box options, blended from 80% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc, and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. In addition, Château Le Noble crafts spirits, notably a Gin and a Vodka distilled from wine. INIMA GIN ABLE Gin is distilled from Bordeaux Supérieur red wines, and VOD K from wine in a copper pot still.
