Appellations

The plots at Château Salins produce red wines under the Cadillac Côtes de Bordeaux appellation and sweet white wines under the Cadillac appellation. Some sources also mention a Côtes-de-provence rosé production, vinified by the Cave de la Londe.

Château Salins offers visits that include a small winemaking museum, a discovery of the vineyard, and a tasting of two wines. Tours are available from 15:00 to 19:00 and can host groups of up to 10 people. The staff speak French and English. The estate also has guest rooms and offers cellar-door sales.

The vineyard (terroir)

The Château Salins vineyard covers an area of 2 hectares on clay-limestone soils. The grape varieties for the red wines consist of 60% Merlot and 40% Cabernet Sauvignon. For the white wines, the blend comprises 80% Sémillon and 20% Muscadelle.

Key cuvées

Château Salins produces two main cuvées. The red wine, named Château Salins, is crafted from Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. The white wine, also named Château Salins, is made from Sémillon and Muscadelle. A rosé, produced from Grenache and Cinsault and vinified by the Cave de la Londe, is described as offering a balance of roundness and freshness, with floral and citrus notes.

Vinification and ageing

The wines of Château Salins are aged in oak barrels. Ageing can last from 12 to 16 months.
