History and philosophy

The estate was acquired in 1978 by M. Valérien Ducau. Today, SCEA Vignobles Ducau continues to manage and farm the property.

Clos Graouères produces wines under the Graves Rouge Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée.

The vineyard (terroir)

The vineyard dedicated to red wines covers an area of 6 hectares, with vines averaging 25 years of age. The planting density is 5,500 vines per hectare. The red grape variety blend comprises 50% Merlot noir, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Cabernet Franc.

Flagship cuvées

The estate’s principal cuvée is Clos Graouères, a red wine characterised by a vatting period of around 20 days and 12 months of ageing. The estate also produces the Château Lescourre cuvée under the Graves appellation. Annual red wine production stands at approximately 25,000 bottles.

Vinification and ageing

For the red wines, the vatting time is approximately 20 days, followed by 12 months of ageing.
