The vineyard (terroir)

Vignobles Bord manages two distinct properties: Clos Jean, spanning 20 hectares, and Château Rondillon, covering an area of 10 hectares. The average age of the vines exceeds 37 years. The vineyard benefits from south and south-westerly exposure. The soils are clay-gravel on the hilltops and limestone at the foot of the slopes.

The grape varieties planted at Clos Jean for red wines consist predominantly of Merlot (80%). For white wines, plantings include Sémillon, Sauvignon, and Muscadelle. Château Rondillon is characterised by a predominantly Merlot blend (90%) grown on clay-limestone soils.

Flagship cuvées

Among the still white wines is PETIT CLOS JEAN in the Loupiac appellation. The estate also offers CLOS JEAN and CHÂTEAU JEAN FONTHENILLE Réserve du château in Loupiac, as well as SUBLIME DE CLOS JEAN, also in Loupiac—all characterised by their sweet white profile, crafted from botrytised harvests and selective successive pickings.

Regarding still red wines, CLOS JEAN is produced under the Bordeaux appellation. CHÂTEAU RONDILLON Vieilli en fût de chêne is another still red cuvée from the estate, also in the Bordeaux appellation.
