Les Vignobles Arnaud is managed by Mathieu Arnaud. The estate is established in Gabarnac, in the Gironde.

History and Philosophy

The estate's history began in 1981 with Jean-Yves Arnaud, who took over the family cru Frappe-Peyrot that year. In 1989, he also took on the lease of Château Mazarin. In 2013, Mathieu Arnaud took over the management of the vineyards, marking the handover of the family estate. The winegrowing estate is committed to organic viticulture, having started a partial conversion in 2018 with the long-term goal of converting the entire vineyard to organic farming.

The Appellations

The parcels of Les Vignobles Arnaud produce wines under several appellations, notably AOC Cadillac, AOC Loupiac, and AOC Bordeaux.

The Vineyard (Terroir)

The vineyard of Les Vignobles Arnaud spans 40 hectares, primarily situated between Gabarnac, Loupiac, and Sainte-Croix-du-Mont. The soils consist of boulbènes and clay-limestone, typical of the slopes of the Garonne. Over 50% of the surface area is dedicated to sweet white wines, while more than 40% is devoted to red and rosé wines. The cultivated grape varieties include Sémillon, Muscadelle, Sauvignon, Merlot, and both Cabernets.

Flagship Cuvées

The estate offers various cuvées, each reflecting the expression of its terroir. Among them, Château Frappe-Peyrot, a wine under the Cadillac appellation, is crafted from a blend dominated by Sémillon, alongside Muscadelle and Sauvignon. Château Mazarin, produced in AOC Loupiac, is a sweet white wine predominantly made from Sémillon, sometimes complemented by Muscadelle and Sauvignon. Château Massac, in AOC Bordeaux, is also a white wine, produced from Sémillon and Muscadelle. Lastly, Domaine de La Croix, under the Bordeaux appellation, is a red wine traditionally blended with a dominance of Merlot complemented by both Cabernets.

Vinification and Ageing

Certain estate cuvées benefit from oak barrel ageing. For instance, Château Frappe-Peyrot has been aged in oak casks for one year in certain vintages.
