Working towards the revival of Bordeaux
A different tone, a kindred spirit: Cazebonne is among the winegrowers giving Bordeaux back its taste of freedom.
At Cazebonne
We do things differently
For a long time, Bordeaux meant imposing châteaux, prestigious labels and wines laid down in cellars — bought without knowing the grower, without even tasting the wine, on the say-so of a handful of critics.
At Château Cazebonne, we chose another path. Since 2016 we have farmed nearly 30 hectares of Graves biodynamically, replanting long-forgotten historic grape varieties and vinifying plot by plot. Minimal sulfites, native yeasts, no corrections: let the fruit speak!
A movement
Bordeaux Pirate
Our approach is no exception in Bordeaux. Many winegrowers want to shake things up and offer a different Bordeaux, more in tune with its time. Together with a few winegrowing friends (Laurent Cassy, Laurent David, Fabien Lapeyre), we founded the Bordeaux Pirate movement.
We are 40 winegrowers, all organic, determined to move the lines. We stand together, we share, we innovate — to bring you wines that will surprise you!
Terroir first
Living soils, biodynamics, hand harvesting. Wine is born in the vineyard, never in a rulebook.
Approachable wines
Tailored ageing, gentle extraction, low sulphur. Our cuvées are made to be drunk today — not in ten years.
Rediscovered varieties
Castets, Mancin, Bouchalès, Saint-Macaire… We are replanting the varieties of yesteryear, of course. But not only that — some of us are also exploring disease-resistant varieties.
A collective
Bordeaux Pirate brings together a generation of sincere winegrowers who have chosen to rally behind this Pirate banner, for the greater good of Bordeaux wine.

At Château Cazebonne, this philosophy comes to life in every gesture. We biodynamically grow more than fifteen historic Bordeaux varieties, vinify plot by plot, and give the wine the time — but never the artifice — it needs.
The result: fluid, digestible, often surprising Bordeaux wines that speak to seasoned enthusiasts and newcomers alike. Wines to share, to discuss, to love straight away.
An unexpected bridge
The musical collaborations
I have long felt that the language built around wine is needlessly complicated. For the insider, of course, understanding grape varieties, terroirs, climates, winemaking methods and the grower's choices is fascinating… But for the general public, it is incomprehensible!
That is how the idea of telling our cuvées through music was born. In 60 seconds, a few words can convey the grower's intention, the cuvée, its character — and above all, share emotions. That is where the grower's approach meets the artist's, and the bridge to music felt perfectly natural.

Les eXtra Terrestres
Les eXtra Terrestres is a collective of career-change winegrowers — women and men from other professional backgrounds who chose to start over in viticulture. Our varied paths are a strength we put to work for a single ambition: making authentic wines that respect living things and their terroirs. Through mutual support, shared experience and the promotion of our estates, we stand for a human, committed and open vision of the winegrower's craft, convinced that newcomers help renew and enrich today's viticulture. The collective is sponsored by journalist and author Laure Gasparotto.
At Château Cazebonne, we are part of the eXtra Terrestres collective because Jean-Baptiste, too, became a winegrower later in life, after a first career in digital and the creation of the recipe website 750g.com.
That background gives him a different approach — a different way of thinking about our estate's mission.
But our lack of experience in the winegrowing trade brings its share of doubts, second-guessing and naivety. That is both our strength and our fragility.
