History and philosophy

The estate boasts origins dating back to 1390. The manor house was reportedly built in 1598, extended in 1818, and transformed into a château in 1912. The estate's history includes a Malescot era beginning in 1660 and a Soehnée era from 1824 onwards. In 1873, the vineyard faced phylloxera. Following a challenging period marked by vineyard damage in 1956 and an aborted sale in 1961, the property underwent a vineyard revival in 1969. In 2004, the family estate was reconstituted. Benjamin Hessel joined the property in 2013, and major infrastructure renovations took place in 2014.

Château Annereaux is deeply committed to environmentally responsible viticulture. It has been certified organic since 2010 and also achieved B Corp certification in 2023. The estate aims to craft wines characterised by their suppleness and harmony.
