The Château de Couloumey vineyard extends over a total area of 14 hectares, comprising 10 hectares owned by Pascal Sallenave and 4 hectares under leasehold. It is planted on soils composed of sand and fine gravel. The average age of the vines is 15 years. Planting density is 5,000 vines per hectare, with a row spacing of 2 metres and a trellising height of 1.30 metres. Grass cover is maintained across all vine rows.
The grape variety blend consists of 70% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 5% Cabernet Franc.
Flagship cuvées
Château de Couloumey offers several cuvées, including Cuvée Méline and Cuvée Manon. Cuvée Méline, a red wine of the Médoc appellation, is predominantly crafted from the Merlot grape variety (80%). Cuvée Manon, also a red Médoc appellation wine, benefits from 18 months of ageing in new oak barrels in selected years.
