Identity
Château Tour Prignac is a winegrowing estate located in the commune of Lesparre. Owned by the Castel family, it has been managed by Vanessa Trouy since 2002. Alain Raynaud serves as the estate's consulting oenologist.
History and philosophy
Founded in 1600, the estate was once known as "Tartuguière". The Seignouret family was among its historical owners. In 1973, the property was acquired by the Castel family.
Château Tour Prignac is committed to environmentally friendly viticulture, which was consolidated by obtaining Terra Vitis certification in 2012. Vineyard practices include eliminating chemical weedkillers, maintaining grass cover between rows, and mechanical soil tillage. Biodiversity initiatives are also in place, such as planting several kilometres of hedgerows and establishing four hectares of wildflower fallows. An afforestation project is also underway near the commune of Lesparre.
Appellations
Château Tour Prignac produces wines under the Médoc appellation. A new appellation, Médoc Blanc, is being developed for the estate's white wines. The estate is classified as Cru Bourgeois.
