Identity

Château La Tuilerie du Puy is located in the commune of Le Puy, in Gironde. It is owned by the Regaud family, with Michaël Regaud acting as winemaker.

History and philosophy

The history of Château La Tuilerie du Puy dates back to 1616, when the Regaud family acquired the property. Winegrowing truly took off in the early 1930s. In 1980, Michaël Regaud's father took the helm of the estate, before Michaël took over in 1996. Present on these lands for generations, the Regaud family is committed to preserving biodiversity through sustainable farming (agriculture raisonnée) and the development of agroecological infrastructure. The estate holds Haute Valeur Environnementale (HVE) certification.

Appellations

Château La Tuilerie du Puy produces wines under the Bordeaux, Bordeaux Supérieur and Entre-Deux-Mers appellations, as well as Bordeaux Rosé.

The vineyard (terroir)

The vineyard spans 78 hectares, including 13 hectares dedicated to white grape varieties. It is divided into three main blocks and four distinct terroirs overlooking the Dropt valley. These terroirs are characterised by south-facing limestone knolls and clay-siliceous slopes. Red grape varieties grown include Petit Verdot, Carménère and Malbec.

Flagship cuvées

The estate's range includes red, white and rosé wines. The Château La Tuilerie du Puy cuvée is produced in AOC Bordeaux rosé and AOC Entre-Deux-Mers. A red wine, also named Château La Tuilerie du Puy, is crafted in AOC Bordeaux Supérieur. The estate also offers Château de Bon Ami in AOC Entre-Deux-Mers and AOC Bordeaux Blanc. The cuvée “Le Vigneron Inconnu” is a red wine in AOC Bordeaux Supérieur. A red cuvée aged for two years in barrels was produced under the Bordeaux Supérieur appellation from a blend of Merlot and Cabernet-Sauvignon. Another red cuvée, crafted from Malbec and Petit Verdot, is aged for one year in 400-litre barrels. A white cuvée in Entre-Deux-Mers, partly composed of Sauvignon, has been produced, alongside an “Élevé en fût de chêne” cuvée in still white wine.

Vinification and ageing

Ageing practices at Château La Tuilerie du Puy vary according to the cuvée. Some red wines are aged for two years in barrels, while others spend one year in 400-litre oak barrels. A white Entre-Deux-Mers cuvée was aged in vats and oak barrels. Night harvesting is carried out for certain white cuvées.
