Identity

Château Picaron is located in Moulon, in the Gironde department. The estate is owned by Sébastien Verouil.

History and philosophy

Sébastien Verouil took over Château Picaron in 2017. The estate is committed to organic viticulture, certified by Ecocert since 2010.

The appellations

Château Picaron produces wines under the AOP Bordeaux Supérieur appellation. The estate also offers Crémant de Bordeaux and Bordeaux Rosé wines. The vineyard is situated between Libourne and Bordeaux, facing the slopes of Saint-Émilion and overlooking the Dordogne valley.

The vineyard (terroir)

The Château Picaron vineyard covers an area of 16 hectares. The soils are diverse, featuring clay-limestone, clay-loam and clay-sand parcels. The red grape varieties grown are Merlot and Cabernet Franc. The estate also manages an additional 9 hectares of vines vinified in its cellar.

Flagship cuvées

Château Picaron (red)

This cuvée, produced under the AOP Bordeaux Supérieur appellation, is made from 100% Merlot. It is aged in vats and oak barrels.

Blanc Bec

Blanc Bec is a dry white wine crafted from 100% Sauvignon Blanc.

L'O d'AS de Picaron

This cuvée is a single-varietal red wine made from 100% Merlot. It is distinguished by an extended ageing process.

La Musette et Pulcinella

These two red cuvées are blends of 25% Merlot, 25% Malbec, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon and 25% Marselan.

Bordeaux 2022

This red wine is a blend of 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc.

Crémant de Bordeaux BRUT Blanc de Noirs

This Crémant is made from 100% Merlot.

Crémant de Bordeaux BRUT Rosé

This rosé Crémant is a blend of 50% Cabernet Franc and 50% Merlot.

Jus de raisin Naturel BIO Pétillant

The estate also produces a sparkling grape juice made from 100% Merlot Noir.

Zéro

This cuvée is a 100% Merlot wine.

Blanc de Noirs

This wine is made from 100% Cabernet Franc.

Vinification and ageing

The L'O d'AS de Picaron cuvée is vinified entirely in 300-litre oak barrels for one month, then aged in the same barrels for 36 months using 100% new French oak. For the Bordeaux Supérieur 2019 cuvée, vinification takes place in stainless steel vats and ageing in 225-litre oak barrels for 12 months, using 50% new oak and 50% one-wine barrels.
